Rates for mice and rats housed in non-standard caging/facilities (e.g., quarantine, telemetry, metabolic, BSL3, Biohazard, BSL2, etc.) are charged as the "barrier" rate.

1$0.01 of this rate increase covers partial (20%) depreciation for new zebrafish housing equipment.  [$0.01 scheduled each year (FY08-12) to cover depreciation.  A phased depreciation schedule eliminates a high spike in rates.]  Per diem increase in excess of the $0.01 (for depreciation) covers increased costs for labor, feed, supplies, etc.

2$0.01 of this rate increase covers 25% of the depreciation for new Thoren housing equipment.  A $0.01 increase will be added each year (FY10-13) to reach the required depreciation level.  A phased depreciation schedule eliminates a high spike in rates.  Per diem increase in excess of the above $0.01 (for depreciation) covers increased costs for labor, feed, bedding, supplies, etc.

Note:  See Room Use Agreement (Room Use Agreement Link) which identifies current rates charges for designated areas in Animal Resources facilities.  Such agreements are on space-available basis only.
