Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development
Cheryl Reardon has cultivated a rich, diverse and progressive portfolio of experiences in her 25-year career at the University of Iowa.
In her current role as Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development in the UI Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Reardon leads the organization’s day-to-day administrative operations, overseeing human resources, budget and financial matters, core research facilities, research information services, and pre-award activities related to grants and contract administration.
Previously she worked to support student success while working in residence hall management and honed her research administrative skills while serving as the research administrator for the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
She has demonstrated her leadership skills and her commitment to the UI community in many voluntary roles as well, including president of Staff Council (2004-2005), member of the Presidential Search Committee (2008), and member of three university-wide strategic planning committees (2005, 2009 and 2016). In a statewide role, she served on the Board of Directors for the Technology Association of Iowa.
Reardon has received the Iowa Board of Regents Staff Excellence Award and the Mary Louise Kelley Staff Excellence Award. She holds a Master’s of Science degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Ambrose University.
