Guiding technology innovations to market: Technology Commercialization

The University of Iowa Research Foundation is the hub of technology commercialization at the UI. UIRF works with faculty and staff to identify and license inventions to companies that bring those inventions to market. Work with entrepreneurs, faculty, industry, and investors to develop UI spinout companies and advise the UI on intellectual property matters for clinical trials and sponsored research.

Space and Support: Technology Innovation Center & Oakdale Research Park

The Technology Innovation Center and the University of Iowa Oakdale Research Park offer space and support for new and growing businesses. The Technology Innovation Center is the University's business incubator, offering service and cost-effective space to start-ups and new ventures of established companies that use advanced technology. The new UI BioVentures Center will open in fall 2008.

The Oakdale Research Park is located on 189 acres in Coralville and was established in 1989 to offer leased space and building sites to growing technology companies seeking sustained relationships with the University of Iowa.

Industrial Biotechnology & Biopharmaceutical Drug Development:

The Center for Biocatalysis & Bioprocessing and other University of Iowa programs such as the Center for Advanced Drug Development and the Division of Pharmaceutical Services provide significant capabilities in the life sciences-industrial biotechnology and pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical research and drug development sectors.
