The University of Iowa is home to a rich set of resources to promote the development of new businesses in Iowa.The University of Iowa Technology Innovation Center (TIC), is a business incubator for new business ventures that make use of advanced technology. It offers services and facilities to start-up business and established companies who are eager to initiate new endeavors. In addition to cost-effective office and laboratory space, the TIC encourages and brokers a wide range of relationships with UI research capabilities.
Oakdale Research Park offers leased space and building sites to growing technology companies seeking sustained relationships with the University of Iowa. Firms can access facilities and equipment, sponsor research, employ graduate students, hire graduates, license UI intellectual property and participate actively in the UI's academic community.
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides management services to small businesses and/or persons interested in starting a new business.
The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) is a unique collaboration between the University's Henry B. Tippie College of Business, College of Engineering, Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, and the College of liberal Arts and Sciences. Formed in 1996, JPEC delivers innovative educational, training, and outreach programs to students, faculty, aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners throughout the state of Iowa.
