BACKGROUND

All new, competing renewal, and most non-competitive renewal  applications to the Heath Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) must be submitted via Grants.gov

OVERVIEW OF THE GRANTS.GOV SUBMISSION PROCESS

Individual UI applicants can go directly to Grants.gov or HRSA, download an application package, complete it, and send it to DSP (via UIRIS Grants.gov Uploads)  for electronic submission to the funding agency.  The completed Grants.gov application package must be submitted electronically to HRSA (via Grants.gov) by one of the authorized DSP staff.  Individual UI applicants cannot submit their Grants.gov applications directly to a funding agency such as HRSA, for example.  UI routing of a printed copy of the proposal is still required for on-campus approvals prior to electronic submission.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTITUTIONS (NOT INDIVIDUAL PIs!)

Grants.gov:  The University of Iowa is registered with Grants.gov and has successfully submitted many applications to several federal funding agencies (HRSA, NIH, NSF, NOAA, DOE, ED, CDC, AHRQ, etc.) using this portal.  Within DSP, Jennifer Lassner, John Massa, Gina Crosheck, Linda Meyer and Lynn Hudachek are designated as institutional officials authorized to submit Grants.gov applications.  Individual UI applicants/principal investigators/administrators do NOT register with Grants.gov and cannot submit applications directly to Grants.gov on their own.

ADOBE GRANTS.GOV FORMS

Adobe Reader 9.0 (or higher) - To COMPLETE and SAVE Adobe Grants.gov forms.

Free download & installation instructions

Use ONLY this version to COMPLETE and SAVE Adobe Grants.gov application forms.

(Grants.gov or NIH might name other Adobe Reader versions that they say are OK to use, but the University of Iowa is standardizing on Adobe Reader 9.0 or higher for all UI Grants.gov activity.)   If you absolutely cannot use Adobe Reader 9.0 (due to local software incompatibility issues), the following are the ONLY OTHER Adobe Reader versions that WILL work to fill out and save Grants.gov forms:  Adobe Reader 8.1.1; Adobe Reader 8.1.2; Adobe Reader 8.1.3.
