Call for Nominations
The Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates is pleased to announce the Excellence in Undergraduate Research Awards sponsored by the Vice President for Research. These awards recognize outstanding accomplishments in scholarly investigation, artistic creation, or performance by an undergraduate student in each of the following fields:
- Arts and Humanities
- Mathematics and Engineering
- Social Sciences
- Natural Sciences
To be eligible for an award, a student must:
- be returning as an undergraduate for the following academic year;
- complete the following application; and
- submit the application online by the established deadlineto the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.

1.) Faculty Letter of Support: This letter will highlight the student’s research contribution or scholarly work. Indicate the importance of the work to your discipline, the strength of this student relative to others you have worked with and the independence of thought demonstrated by this student. NO MORE THAN 500 words in length. (can be attached to application or submitted via email to email@example.com
2.) Resume: Submit a one- or two-page resume. (pdf formatting is preferred)
3.) Your unofficial transcript.
4.) Optional Supplemental Materials: Examples include digital representation of the work, submitted papers or abstracts, etc.
Selection Committee Process
Awardees will be selected by members of the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduate steering committee.
Recipients will receive a $1000 travel allowance to attend a conference in their area of study for the following academic year. Awardees will be recognized at the Spring Undergraduate Research Festival at the Blank Honors Center.
