Competitive Funding Programs FY2008-2009
The purpose of the Office of the Vice President for Research internal funding initiatives (IFI) is to provide grants to faculty and research staff in all areas of scholarly endeavor (the arts and humanities, biological sciences, mathematical & physical sciences and social sciences) for work that enhances the competitiveness of applications for external funding, assists in developing new initiatives, and/or supports new directions in scholarly/creative activity.

Deadlines
The ICRU Scholar Assistants 2008 call for proposals was announced in February 2008. Its deadline was April 4, 2008.
The ICRU Summer Research Fellows 2008 call for proposals was announced in February 2008. Its deadline was March 24, 2008.
The Spring 2008 IREU call for proposals was announced on February 5, 2008. Its deadline was February 15, 2008.
The Fall 2007 AHI call for proposals was announced on November 29, 2007. Its deadline was February 11, 2008.
The ICRU Summer Research Fellows 2007 call for proposals was announced early in 2007. Its deadline was April 20, 2007.
The ICRU Scholar Assistants call for proposals was announced on August 13, 2007. Its deadline was September 7, 2007.
The Fall 2007 IREU call for proposals was announced on September 14, 2007. Its deadline was October 8, 2007.
The BSFP call for proposals was announced on October 15, 2007. Its deadline was November 19, 2007.
The MPSFP call for proposals was announced on October 15, 2007. Its deadline was November 19, 2007.
The SSFP call for proposals was announced on October 15, 2007. Its deadline was November 19, 2007.
All internal funding proposals will be submitted electronically via the UIRIS website at https://uiris.research.uiowa.edu/. This is a secure site. To gain access to it, you must use your HawkID and password.
Please do not route proposals through the Division of Sponsored Programs.
Eligibility
- An applicant may appear as a PI on no more than one proposal. Submissions to multiple programs will not be allowed and, therefore, the applicant must choose the one program best suited to his/her application. IREU is an exception – individuals may submit one proposal to IREU even if they are submitting a proposal to one of the other programs as PI.
- Individuals who received an AHI, BSFP, MPSFP, or SSFP award in any of the 2006-2007 competitions (either as PI or co-investigator) are not eligible for the 2007-2008 call for proposals.
- Lecturers, visiting faculty, associates, and postdoctoral staff are not eligible.
- All faculty and/or professional and scientific staff with at least a 50% appointment at the time of their application and award are eligible to be PI of an IFI proposal.
