Former JPEC student RuiHao Min (BBA, Economics and Marketing, ’13) created his app, Blue Cheese (Edible Innovations, LLC), originally to impress a girl. After an embarrassing experience ordering blue cheese on a date, RuiHao had the idea of an app that would translate menu items for travelers, so that they could avoid the same mistake. In July, just 10 days after their official launch, Blue Cheese was named “Best New App” and “Best of July” in the iTunes AppStore in China and had over 40,000 downloads. RuiHao credited much of his success to his team’s involvement in the Venture School Summer Accelerator.

“Venture School helped us study and practice the Lean LaunchPad Methodology. We also learned how to use other important methods, like Agile Development. My team and I can’t say how thankful we are to the JPEC instructors and staff members behind the Venture School, especially Jeff Nock and Keith Chiavetta. They were great mentors and worked very closely with us this summer providing valuable advice. Although we are dreaming to be a global company, Blue Cheese is truly an American dream from Iowa,” said RuiHao.
