OBJECTIVES Obtain pilot data, expand research or explore a new direction of research for the purposes of extramural research support.
AWARD Up to $15,000
CONDITIONS No salary support for investigators; funds must be expended by end of academic year

PROGRAM NAME Dental Student Research Award
OBJECTIVES Train dental students to conduct faculty mentored research project
AWARD $2,000-$3,500
CONDITIONS Projects conducted on annual basis; awards renewable, pending successful completion of project and submission of new proposal
ELIGIBILITY Current or accepted dental students; good academic standing
DEADLINE Proposals due April 1 annually
NOTIFICATION OF ACTION End of spring semester

PROGRAM NAME Institutional Training Program in Oral Health Research
OBJECTIVES Comprehensive training program to provide training opportunities in oral health, to develop dental scholars at the PhD and post-doctoral level who can become productive investigators and researchers.
AWARD Predoctoral: $22,032;  Postdoctoral:  starting at $39,264.
CONDITIONS Appointed for one year with continued support dependent on progress in program. Full-time research training effort. Faculty sponsor required.
ELIGIBILITY Predoctoral: Received a baccalaureate degree and must be enrolled in UI doctoral program; Postdoctoral: must have D.D.S./D.M.D., M.D., Ph.D.; one position will be available for a non-US dentist.
