| PROGRAM NAME | John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellowship for Undergraduate Research in the Hydrosciences |
| OBJECTIVES | Provide opportunity for undergraduate engineering students, who best meet eligibility criteria, to become involved in hydroscience research in hope that they will be encouraged to pursue graduate studies at IIHR |
| AWARD | $1,500 |
| CONDITIONS | Lump-sum cash award made at beginning of fall semester of senior year; must conduct research project related their hydroscience interest, and at conclusion of project, must prepare report for submission to IIHR and Kennedy family |
| ELIGIBILITY | Citizen of U.S.; major in Civil and Environmental or mechanical Engineering, or closely related field; academic standing to assure senior status in fall semester immediately following notice of award; cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 on coursework toward BSE degree; show potential for success in some area of hydrosciences; show integrity of character and qualities of leadership; must demonstrate qualities of ingenuity and inquisitiveness; illustrate breadth of interest in areas outside engineering |

| PROGRAM NAME | Iowa Space Grant Consortium Cooperative Activity |
| OBJECTIVES | Provide seed funding for highly innovative concepts that have potential for significant return, but may be considered too risky for traditional funding |
| AWARD | Up to $25,000 |
| CONDITIONS | Proposed activity must involve at least two Iowa Space Grant Consortium affiliates and include some clearly interdisciplinary feature |
| ELIGIBILITY | Must be employed by Iowa Space Grant Consortium affiliate (UI, ISU, UNI) |
| DEADLINE | Due at ISU, Ames, IA in early October (exact deadline varies) |

| OBJECTIVES | Provide opportunity for undergraduate engineering students in Civil Engineering, who best meet the eligibility requirements, to become involved in hydroscience research in hope that they will be encouraged to follow graduate studies at IIHR. |
| AWARD | $1,000 |
| CONDITIONS | Awarded at beginning of fall semester. |
| ELIGIBILITY | Must be a full-time student in Civil and Environmental Engineering; must have completed 57.020 with a grade of A or above and have at least one year of coursework remaining toward the BS degree; must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on at least 24 semester hours of UI coursework toward a BS degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering; must demonstrate potential for achieving distinction in the field of hydraulics; must include at least two electives in the field of hydraulics. |
