Short Term Housing
Visiting Faculty/Artists/Researchers/Scholars
University of Iowa colleges and departments host a number of visiting faculty, artists, researchers and scholars each year. Visitors from all over the world come to Iowa to lecture, offer workshops, and join colleagues in research.
Many visitors elect to stay in one of several University-owned duplexes, townhouses and apartments. These facilities are fully-furnished, including cookware, dishes, flatware, and bed linens. Rental rates vary by facility. The minimum stay is one month; maximum stay is one year. For more details, see Shortterm Housing for Visiting Faculty/Artists/Scholars/Researchers (1MB pdf). These facilities are very popular, so it's recommended that interested visitors apply as early as possible.
Here is a link to the current rental rates (2009-10) for these properties. Please note that rates are subject to change.
Sponsoring departments are responsible for filing the Application for Space Assignment (pdf) with the Office of the Vice President for Research. Once this form has been approved, it is forwarded to the Business Manager's Office where the staff matches visitors with facilities when possible, and handles rental agreements. Please direct inquiries to Cathy Fountain, 319-335-0082, cathrine-fountain@uiowa.edu.
