MKF: Innovative/Translational Cancer Research

Program Summary

The Mary Kay Foundationâ„ , a funding source for cancer research, is currently accepting applications for innovative grants for translational research in ovarian, uterine, breast, or cervical cancer.


Applications must be submitted by one Principal Investigator, selected by the Institution.  The University of Iowa may put forward two distinct applications: one from the College of Medicine and one from the College of Public Health.

About the Award
The program will offer between ten to fifteen grants. The awards will be up to $100,000 each (combined direct and indirect costs). The grant period is for two years.  The grant period is July 1, 2013 -- June 30, 2015.  Award announcements will be made on or about May 1, 2013.
Internal Selection Procedure
The Office of the Vice President for Research, the Carver College of Medicine, and the College of Public Health, have established an internal review procedure to select the UI nominees. Applications will be reviewed according to the sponsor's selection criteria. Consideration will also be given to UI institutional strengths and strategic directions. Potential applicants must submit, using the preselection link below, the following information:
1. A two page CV or NIH biosketch
2. A description of the proposed research. It should have the following elements:
The above materials must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2012. The selected nominees will be asked to complete the full application package in accordance with the sponsor's deadline of Monday, February 4, 2013.
