Mallinckrodt Foundation Grant Program

Program Summary

The Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation is a private foundation that funds basic biomedical research in St Louis and throughout the United States.  The mission of the Foundation is to support early stage investigators engaged in biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis, or treatment of disease.


Any domestic biomedical institution, whether solely research or educational, is invited to submit candidates for the Mallinckrodt Board's consideration.  Each institution is allowed to submit only two applications in a given cycle.  Applicants should be tenure-track and not have current R01 funding.

Award Information

The regular grants provide $60,000 per year for a period of up to three years.  The grants are not renewable.  Institutions may submit a maximum of two proposals per session.

Internal Selection Procedure  
The Office of the Vice President for Research has established an internal review procedure to select the UI nominees. Applications will be reviewed according to the sponsor’s selection criteria. Consideration will also be given to UI institutional strengths and strategic directions. Potential applicants must submit, using the preselection link below, the following information:
1.  A two-page CV or NIH biosketch

The above materials must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013.  The selected nominees will be asked to complete the full application package in accordance with the sponsor's Thursday, August 1, 2013, deadline.
