MEPI: Strengthening Political Leadership & Reducing Economic Barriers for Women in the MENA Region

Program Summary

The U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) is committed to enhancing the ability of women throughout the Middle East and North Africa to actively participate in and successfully contribute to political, social and economic developments in their home countries. This funding opportunity seeks to advance the U.S. Government’s commitment to supporting the women of the Middle East and North Africa to achieve their enormous potential, specifically by strengthening women’s political participation and supporting advocacy for legislative or regulatory reforms that reduce economic barriers for women.


Through this announcement, we seek to support projects in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, West Bank/Gaza, and/or Yemen.  Applications that focus on activities in country(s) and territories other than those discussed under each priority area will not be considered.

Applicants may submit only one application to this announcement. The application must address one priority area; applications addressing more than one priority will not advance to the Technical Review stage. The application can propose to work in one or more of the eligible countries.

Award Information

Based on the availability of funds, approximately $10,000,000 in Economic Support Funds for approximately six to eight cooperative agreements will be awarded through this announcement. If selected to receive a grant, an applicant will be awarded funds for up to two years, depending on the activities and country(ies) proposed.
