USDA: Rural Cooperative Development Grants

Program Summary

USDA announces the availability of grants through the Rural Cooperative Development Grant (RCDG) Program for Fiscal Year (FY) 2013.  The primary objective of the RCDG program is to improve the economic condition of rural areas through cooperative development. Grant funds may be used to pay for 75 percent of the cost of establishing and operating centers for rural cooperative development. Centers may have the expertise on staff or they can contract out for the expertise, to assist individuals or entities in the startup, expansion or operational improvement of rural businesses, especially cooperative or mutually-owned businesses.


Nonprofit corporations and institutions of higher education may apply. Approximately $6.5 million is available. Applications are limited to one per applicant for a maximum of $200,000 and matching funds are required. The grant period is limited to a one-year timeframe.
