NIH: Neurological Sciences Academic Development Award (K12)

Program Summary

The purpose of the NINDS Neurological Sciences Academic Development Award (NSADA K12) is to facilitate and support the research career development of pediatric neurologists at educational institutions or professional organizations who have made a commitment to independent research careers.  The NSADA program is intended to provide three consecutive years of support to individuals to provide them with the knowledge, tools and research experience that will enable them to transition to significant, individually-supported research.


Only one application per institution is allowed.

Award Information

Application budgets are not limited, but must reflect the actual needs of the proposed project and adhere to allowable costs.  The project period duration for this funding opportunity may not exceed five years.

Internal Selection Process
The UI Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development and the Carver College of Medicine have established an internal review procedure to select the UI nominee. Applications will be reviewed according to the sponsor's selection criteria. Consideration will also be given to UI institutional strengths and strategic directions. Potential applicants must submit, using the preselection link below, the following information:
  1. A two page CV or NIH biosketch; and
  2. A description of the proposed project. It should have the following elements:
The above materials must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.  The selected nominee will be asked to complete the full application package in accordance with the sponsor's deadline of Wednesday, December 11, 2013.
