Iowa Arts Council Project Grants
The Iowa Arts Council is committed to enriching the quality of life for Iowans through support of the arts. Project Grants create opportunities for the arts to flourish in Iowa by investing in projects that positively impact the vitality of the arts in the state, demonstrate public value, and support Iowa Arts Council funding priorities. Eligible projects are relevant to the stated mission of the applicant, have a clear beginning and end, seek to achieve specific arts goals through measureable objectives, and have an appropriate budget and timeline. Funding for the Iowa Arts Council is provided by the State of Iowa and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
Eligible projects must meet one of the following Project Grant funding priorities:

The Iowa Arts Council will award funding on a quarterly cycle beginning with FY2014 grant awards
Eligible applicants can receive one Iowa Arts Council-administered grant award per state fiscal year. State fiscal year is July 1 to June 30.
Up to two grant applications may be submitted per state fiscal year if the first request is unfunded.
No more than one grant application can be submitted during a single grant deadline.
The minimum request is $1,000 and the maximum is $10,000.
Applicant must provide at least $1 of cash or in-kind match for every dollar requested from the Department of Cultural Affairs.
Applicants may overmatch the total requested grant amount.
Applicant must match at least 50% of the requested grant amount with cash.
Cash match is actual cash contributed to the project by the applicant or other funding sources.
In-kind match is donated goods or services that have been contributed to the project by the applicant or other sources.
All cash or in-kind match must be a legitimate part of the proposed project and must be expended within the funding period.
Other Department of Cultural Affairs grants cannot be used as matching funds
Internal Selection Procedure
The UI Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development has established an internal review procedure to select the UI nominee. Applications will be reviewed according to the sponsor's selection criteria. Consideration will also be given to UI institutional strengths and strategic directions. Potential applicants must submit, using the preselection link below, the following information:
1. A two page CV
2. A description of the proposed project. It should have the following elements:
a cover sheet with the project title, your name, department, and campus address, and the title of the program you are responding to;
a brief summary of the proposed project (no more than 750 characters in length) addressing the following
IAC Proposal Summary criteria
primary use of requested funds;
primary arts goals as well as implementation objectives; and
desired impact on the vitality of the arts in Iowa.
The above materials must be submitted no later than
5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014.
The selected nominee will be asked to complete the full application package in accordance with the sponsor's deadline of
Thursday, May 1, 2014.
