NIH: Consortium for Food Allergy Research (U19)

Program Summary

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits applications from single institutions to administer a multi-project multi-institution program, to conduct clinical research and assume the leadership and administrative responsibilities for the Consortium for Food Allergy Research (CoFAR). The selected applicant will continue the mission of the CoFAR, which focuses on immune and other intervention strategies for the prevention and treatment of food allergy, including food allergen-associated severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, and food allergen-associated eosinophilic esophagitis. The Consortium will conduct interventional trials with associated mechanistic studies, and observational/natural history and/or genetics studies with associated mechanistic studies, in order to understand better the immunopathogenesis of these conditions. 

Eligibility

Only one application per institution is allowed.

Award Information

Cooperative agreement.  NIAID intends to commit $6.1 million in FY 2015 to fund one award.

Internal Selection Procedure
 
The UI Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development and the Carver College of Medicine have established an internal review procedure to select the UI nominee. Applications will be reviewed according to the sponsor's selection criteria. Consideration will also be given to UI institutional strengths and strategic directions. Potential applicants must submit, using the preselection link below, the following information: 
  1. A two page CV; and
  2. A description of the proposed project. It should have the following elements:
The above materials must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014. The selected nominee will be asked to complete the full application package in accordance with the sponsor's deadline of Thursday, June 19, 2014.
