NIH: Clinical Trial on the Effects of Interventions Aiming to Reduce Chronic Inflammation in Older Adults: Pilot Phase (U01)

Program Summary

The purpose of this FOA is to conduct a pilot study (or studies) and/or secondary analyses to collect information needed to develop and implement a successful intervention study on effects of reducing low-grade chronic inflammation on mobility limitations in older adults.

Only one application per institution is allowed.

Award Information

Cooperative agreement.   NIA anticipates funding 1 award, totaling up to $1,857,000, in fiscal year 2015.  Application budgets are limited to $1,857,000 in total costs. The project period is limited to three years.

Internal Selection Procedure
 
The UI Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development and the Carver College of Medicine have established an internal review procedure to select the UI nominee. Applications will be reviewed according to the sponsor's selection criteria. Consideration will also be given to UI institutional strengths and strategic directions. Potential applicants must submit, using the preselection link below, the following information: 
  1. A two page CV; and
  2. A description of the proposed project. It should have the following elements:
The above materials must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. The selected nominee will be asked to complete the full application package in accordance with the sponsor's deadline of Wednesday, October 8, 2014.
