Mark A. Arnold, the Edwin B. Green Chair Professor in Laser Chemistry in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will help expand the academic core of the Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing (CBB) in a new associate director position effective Monday, March 16.
The position was created to help spur innovation at the CBB in education and training, research and scholarship, and technology transfer and economic development, as well promote CBB as a resource for UI researchers and academic and commercial partners.
The University of Iowa has launched a new major that provides entrepreneurial management and leadership education to liberal arts and sciences students, giving them the opportunity to develop real-world skills and improve their employability before hitting the job market or starting their own business.
All UI faculty, staff, postdocs, and students are invited to the Hawkeye Innovation Summit on April 23, 5:00-6:30pm for a reception and talk by Arthur Krieg, MD, titled "Shifting from R to D: The ABCs of translating a great scientific idea into a great startup."
Dr. Krieg's talk will cover how to identify research ideas with commercial value, and how to pitch your ideas to industry representatives.
The session will include time for Q&A and a reception for attendees.
