Scientists create online game to teach children about influenza and vaccines

Researchers at the University of Iowa have teamed up with the organization Families Fighting Flu to create an online game for children to learn about influenza and why vaccines are important.

OVPR seeking faculty to serve as part-time associate vice presidents

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) has formed a search committee to recruit part-time associate vice presidents for research who will oversee OVPR’s work on behalf of the arts, humanities and social sciences, as well as the biomedical, mathematical, and physical sciences.

OVPR seeks director for Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication Facility

The University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research is seeking a director for its Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication (MATFab) Facility.

The current director, UI professor of chemistry Chris Cheatum, will step down from MATFab after his appointment as associate dean for the natural, mathematical, and social sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences takes effect Jan. 17.

The U.S. Army Is Finally Close to Replacing Its 1980 Fitness Test

With help from the University of Iowa, the U.S. Army is adopting a new fitness test for the first time in 40 years, part of a larger health overhaul aimed at making soldiers stronger, less prone to injury, and better prepared for 21st century combat.
