Position Specific Summary:

The Office of the Vice President for Research is seeking a temporary, part-time Web Editor to assist in migrating, editing and converting content into a new content management platform (Drupal 8). The position is 15-20 hours per week for a period of 2 year(s), with the potential to increase hours and extend beyond March 2022.

This position will support the Office of the Vice President for Research and reporting units as we transition our web sites to Drupal 8.

Hours: Scheduled hours will be accomplished between 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday

Pay: $17.00/hour. This is not a benefits-eligible position.

Specific Job Duties and Tasks

  • Migrate (copy & paste) content from one platform to another, this includes moving and re-linking of code and files
  • Update content on web pages (text and html) using a CMS
  • Promote/encourage compliance with accessibility and UI branding on departmental web pages
  • Create (WCAG) 2.0 standard level collateral such as PDFs
  • Support site content migration
  • Work with other departments to coordinate content and Website updates
  • Draft procedure manuals or guides

Position Qualifications

Education or Equivalency Required

A Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and writing, editing, web experience is required.

Required Qualification

· Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; experience writing benefit-oriented, consumer-focused copy for the web

· Understanding of Accessibility guidelines for the web (WCAG)

· Good basic web familiarity (UI linkedin learning-web tech) / Basic CSS / HTML skills

· Awareness of UI Web services and structures

· Experience in working with Content Management Systems (ex. Drupal)

· Good basic familiarity with publishing and design software

· Basic familiarity with Usability concepts and practices

· Understanding and usage of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Desirable Qualification

· Experience in marketing, design and communications; knowledge of Web design software

· Knowledge of Adobe Suite of products

· SharePoint skills a plus
