Undergraduate students pursuing research or creative scholarship may now apply for a Research Supply Grant for currently unfunded materials related to their work.

The Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates (ICRU) and the Office of the Vice President for Research sponsor the grants, which will provide up to $1,000 per award to cover expenses including equipment, supplies, software, research-related interviews, and more.

“Faculty indicated to us that small supply grants would help them to move undergraduate research and creative activity in new directions,” said Bob Kirby, ICRU director. “Our hope is that these awards will help advance new areas of undergraduate research interest across disciplines in ways that benefit both the students and their mentors.”

Degree-seeking undergraduate students in good standing with the university should work closely with their faculty mentor to submit their applications for the Fall 2022 funding cycle by 5 p.m., Nov. 9. The spring application cycle will run from Feb. 1 to March 1, 2023. More details, including the application form, are available on the ICRU website.

Part of the Office of the Vice President for Research, ICRU promotes undergraduate involvement in research and creative projects at the University of Iowa by facilitating mentorship of students in research and creative work and by providing platforms for students to explore research communication.
