David Schwebel

Second candidate announced for next vice president for research

David Schwebel is associate vice president for research facilities and infrastructure and university professor of psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He served in various leadership positions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham since 2006. Schwebel earned a Master of Arts and a PhD in clinical psychology from Iowa in 1996 and 2000, respectively.

First candidate announced for next vice president for research

Belinda McSwain Sturm is the director of the Kansas National Science Foundation’s Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) and professor and Ross McKinney Faculty Fellow in environmental engineering at the University of Kansas. She held the associate director position of the Kansas EPSCoR program from 2020—2022. She also served as interim vice chancellor for research at the University of Kansas from 2023—2024 and associate vice chancellor for research from 2018—2022.
