The University of Iowa Research Foundation (UIRF) will host a series of online courses about how to move technology from the university to the marketplace for all University of Iowa faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students.
“If you have an idea and wonder if it is commercially valuable, this series is for you,” said Mihaela Bojin, UIRF associate director. “The courses also cater to early-career researchers who are interested in learning about the tech transfer landscape and how to protect intellectual property.”
The two-part series, which will be offered once in the fall and once in the spring, will cover topics including: what to expect from the technology transfer process, when and how to communicate your discovery to potential funders and external partners, and how UIRF can support you and protect your technology.
“The UIRF is committed to working with researchers to move their technologies and discoveries into the marketplace so they can benefit the public,” said Marie Kerbeshian, assistant vice president for research and UIRF executive director. “These courses are an opportunity to learn how we work behind the scenes to protect the technologies and discoveries generated at the University of Iowa and to identify commercial partners for licensing and commercialization.”

To register, visit UI Self-Service, and click on the My Career tab. Under Learning and Development, select My Training. Click Enroll in Courses in the top left corner, and search for the course number.
