Cherie Haury-Artz from the University of Iowa Office of the State Archaeologist will present, Ancient Technology in Iowa: How Did They Do That?, an all ages program at Wickiup Hill Learning Center in Linn County.

Registration is requested. Tickets are $5/adult and $5/child. This program is organized by the Wickiup Hill Learning Center, Linn County Conservation - please contact them if you have questions regarding the in-person program.

Ancient Technology in Iowa: How Did They Do That? program description:

Ancient technology was incredibly innovative. Technologies such as stone tool making, weaponry, cordage production, stone-boiling and pottery manufacture were crucial to ancient societies. These technologies represent some of the very first scientific innovations in the history of human technology. These technological “firsts” were essential to the advancement of society. People had to understand and apply basic principles of, physics, chemistry, engineering, and natural history. Learn about flint knapping, pottery making, bone tools, unique uses for plants, and more.
