Harry Bui bridges scientific and social science research as he investigates ways to improve the experiences of patients and community members with diabetes and diabetes-related complications, using innovations that range from biosensors that detect infection to dialogue frameworks aimed at improving access to care. With a focus on patients with diabetes, Bui has studied access to preventative kidney care and worked to improve the diagnosis and treatment of foot wounds.

“Through these experiences, I’ve had the opportunity to present my work, collaborate across disciplines, and gain skills that will continue to shape my growth as a scholar and professional,” he says.

Bui plans to become a physician-scientist, bridging clinical practice, research, and community collaboration. After completing his Bachelor’s degree and a Master of Public Health, he plans to pursue an MD/PhD, combining medicine and research to develop innovative, community-centered solutions that advance health outcomes.
