Under a new National Science Foundation (NSF) term and condition effective for awards issued after October 22, 2018, all awardee institutions such as the University of Iowa (UI) must notify the NSF of any finding or determination of violation of University policy related to sexual harassment, other forms of harassment, or sexual assault by Principal Investigators or Co-Principal Investigators of NSF awards issued. Universities are also required to notify the NSF of any administrative leave or action imposed on a PI or Co-PI related to an investigation, finding or determination related to such harassment.

The UI is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment for students, staff and faculty and will continue to follow our current policies concerning Sexual Harassment, Anti-Harassment and Human Rights as well as procedures for investigation and resolution of complaints. As a result of the new term and condition, the UI will also report findings, determinations or administrative actions resulting from a violation of these polices to NSF when required.
