The University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research has promoted Jennifer Lassner to senior associate vice president for research, effective May 1.
“Her exceptional ability to lead teams, manage complex compliance environments, and navigate evolving regulatory expectations is essential to the continued success of the research enterprise at our university,” said David Schwebel, vice president for research.
Over the past year, Lassner’s responsibilities have expanded in response to federal changes affecting grant funding and research compliance. She has led efforts to monitor policy developments, interpret new requirements, and provide timely guidance to researchers across campus. Her work has been critical in helping the university adapt to a shifting national research landscape.
Lassner, who has served as associate vice president for research since March 2020, is the university’s designated institutional official for compliance with federal rules and regulations governing research. This role requires close coordination with internal partners, external stakeholders, and federal agencies. She leads efforts to navigate complex, evolving regulatory environments, helping ensure that Iowa’s research enterprise remains both competitive and compliant.
