Cherie Haury-Artz from the University of Iowa Office of the State Archaeologist will present on Traditional Toys and Games, an all ages, family-friend program to be held at the Luana Bank Community Room and hosted by the Polk City Library as part of their Unearth a Story summer reading program.

This program is organized by the Polk City Library - please contact them if you have questions regarding the in-person program.

Traditional Toys and Games program description:

The majority of the artifacts recovered in archaeological excavations tell us about what people ate and how they obtained it. Some less common artifacts, however, are clues to the other dimensions of people’s lives, such as entertainment. We know that men, women, and children have always enjoyed the challenge and fun of playing games. Learn about some traditional toys and games, and even try some out.
