Training grants offer an opportunity to do more than support individual trainees. They can help faculty build research communities, strengthen graduate and postdoctoral training, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and expand institutional research capacity.

Join the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Graduate College for a faculty panel discussion exploring training grant opportunities across federal agencies, including the NIH T32, NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program (EGFP), and U.S. Department of Education/Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Research Training Programs.

About the Session

Faculty panelists with experience developing and leading federally funded training programs will share their perspectives on why they pursued these opportunities, what they learned through the process, and the benefits and challenges of building successful programs.

The conversation will explore:

• Why faculty pursue training grants and what makes the investment worthwhile

• What it takes to develop and sustain a successful training program

• How these awards can strengthen research, collaboration, and institutional capacity

• Lessons learned and advice for faculty considering similar opportunities

This session is intended as a conversation and introduction to training grant opportunities rather than a technical grant-writing workshop.
