The University of Iowa Office of Research and Economic Development will host a lecture by Israeli author Etgar Keret at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 in Room 240 of Art Building West as part of the Creative Matters lecture series in collaboration with the UI Arts Advancement Committee.

Keret is the author of The Seven Good Years; Suddenly, A Knock on the Door; The Girl of the Fridge; Bus Driver Who Wanted to Be God; Missing Kissinger; and Gaza Blues.

Keret has received the Book Publishers Association’s Platinum Prize several times, as well as the Chevalier medallion of France’s Order of Arts and Letters, the Prime Minister’s Prize, and the Ministry of Culture’s Cinema Prize.

He is internationally acclaimed for his short stories, hailed as the voice of young Israel and one of its most radical and extraordinary writers. His books are bestsellers in Israel and have been published in over thirty languages.

The Seven Good Years will be available for sale at the event. A book signing will follow his reading.

The Creative Matters lecture series seeks to demonstrate that creativity is not only at the core of all research and discovery, but is also central to our human experience. The lineup of invited speakers includes artists, thinkers, builders, and doers who challenge conventional thinking about creativity, science, and artistic expression, borrowing from a range of influences and disciplines in their work.
