The University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development has promoted Ann Ricketts (left) and Jennifer Lassner (right) from Assistant Vice Presidents for Research to Senior Assistant Vice Presidents for Research.

Their promotions follow the departure of former OVPR&ED Associate Vice President Cheryl Reardon, who accepted a position as UI Associate Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officer effective Oct. 17.

“Great organizations attract amazing talent like Cheryl, Ann and Jennifer,” said Daniel A. Reed, UI Vice President for Research and Economic Development. “Transitions like these present fresh opportunities to evaluate our operations and determine how best to align our remarkable in-house talent with our organization’s needs.”

Ricketts will has taken on responsibility for OVPR&ED budget and human resources matters, while Lassner—formerly Director of the Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP)—is managing the organization’s research administration. (Wendy Beaver is now directing DSP.)

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development provides resources and support to researchers and scholars at the University of Iowa and to businesses across Iowa with the goal of forging new frontiers of discovery and innovation and promoting a culture of creativity that benefits the campus, the state, and the world.
